About Courtley’s Photography
I’m Andrew, a wedding photographer based in Yorkshire.
I photograph weddings in a calm, natural way — paying attention to the people and the moments that quietly shape the day. I’m not there to stage things or direct how it should look. I’m there to observe, stay present, and document what unfolds.
The photographs that matter most are usually the ones no one planned. A glance, a pause, a moment of connection that happens in between everything else. My role is to notice those moments and capture them without getting in the way.
How I Approach Wedding Photography
Every wedding feels different because the people are different. That’s what gives each day its character.
I work in an observational, documentary style, focusing on genuine interaction rather than posed or performative moments. I’m always watching for the smaller details as well as the bigger moments — the nervous energy, the quiet reassurance, the laughter that arrives unexpectedly.
Nothing forced. Nothing exaggerated.
Just photographs that feel true to how the day actually felt.
What It’s Like Having Me There
On the day itself, I work calmly and unobtrusively. I won’t ask you to repeat moments or pull you away from what’s happening. I prefer to let things unfold naturally and be there when they do.
This approach keeps the atmosphere relaxed and allows the story of the day to take shape on its own. From the early moments through to the end of the night, I document the day as a whole — so the photographs reflect the experience of being there, not just how it looked.
Why I Photograph Weddings This Way
What draws me to weddings is the people — the relationships, the shared history, and the meaning of bringing everyone together in one place.
By stepping back and observing rather than directing, I can photograph weddings as complete, flowing stories. There’s space for anticipation, celebration, quiet moments, and everything in between. The result is a set of images that feels natural, personal, and lasting.
If This Feels Right
If you care more about real moments than perfect poses, and want your wedding photographed in a relaxed, thoughtful way, I’d love to hear from you.
Tell me a bit about your plans and what matters most — and we’ll take it from there.
